PENGENALAN

Penubuhan Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (JKM) bermula pada tahun 1984 dengan menerima pelajar pertamanya pada sesi pengajian Julai 1984. JKM telah melahirkan ribuan graduan yang kompetitif sejajar dengan kehendak Visi dan Misi POLIMAS. JKM menawarkan 4 program pengajian iaitu :

  • Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (Pembuatan)
  • Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (Loji)
  • Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (Plastik)
  • Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekatronik

Secara umumnya, program yang ditawarkan  di JKM bertujuan untuk menghasilkan tenaga kerja separa profesional yang cekap dan berkemahiran dalam bidang kejuruteraan mekanikal. Justeru itu, graduan kejuruteraan perlu bersikap inovatif, kreatif dan beretika tinggi dalam melaksanakan tanggungjawab apabila berada di dunia pekerjaan kelak. Usaha ini adalah selari dengan cabaran wawasan 2020 yang menuntut  para graduan untuk membangunkan Malaysia
sebagai negara perindustrian berpendapatan tinggi serta bermoral dan beretika tinggi.

PROGRAM YANG DITAWARKAN

Program Pengajian Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal direkabentuk untuk memberi pendedahan  kepada pelajar tentang pengetahuan dan kemahiran praktikal yang komprehensif. Ianya merangkumi pelbagai bidang teknikal yang akan memberi peluang yang luas kepada pelajar yang mengikuti kursus ini. Kursus ini juga dirangka untuk melahirkan pelajar yang bersedia untuk menghadapi cabaran dalam menjadikan negara ini sebuah negara perindustrian maju menjelang abad ke dua puluh satu selaras dengan hasrat falsafah pendidikan negara iaitu melahirkan rakyat yang berilmu pengetahuan, berketrampilan, berakhlak mulia yang akhirnya akan memberisumbangan terhadap keharmonian dan kemakmuran masyarakat dan negara.Pelajar yang mengikuti kursus ini berpeluang menjalani latihan praktikal dalam bidang pemesinan,kimpalan, pengaturcaraan komputer, proses pembuatan, CNC dan pengujian bahan. Di samping menekankan bahawa kejuruteraan mekanikal adalah satu bidang yang praktik, kursus ini juga bertujuan melatih pelajar supaya dapat berinteraksi dengan teknologi baru. 

Modul yang dipelajari termasuk Matematik Kejuruteraan, Sains Juruteknik, Lukisan Kejuruteraan, Teknologi Bahan,Teknologi Elektrik, Aplikasi Komputer, Mekanik Bendalir, Kajidaya Bahan, Kajidaya Mesin,Teknologi Woksyop, Lukisan Terbantu Komputer,Amalan Bengkel Mekanikal, Pnematik &Hidraulik, Rekabentuk Kejuruteraan dan juga Teknologi Kejuruteraan Loji.

Pelajar akan menjalani latihan industri dalam semester keempat bagi kursus bagi kursus diploma untuk mendapat pengalaman pekerjaan dalam bidang yang berkaitan di industri. Strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran adalah merupakan gabungan antara teori dan kerja amali, kajian kes, perbincangan dalam kumpulan, persembahan serta tugasan. Pelajar juga diberikan projek untuk diselesaikan secara berkumpulan pada semester akhir bagi pelajar diploma untuk memberi peluang kepada pelajar melahirkan kreativiti secara usaha sama. Lulusan diploma kejuruteraan mekanikal ini boleh melanjutkan pelajaran mereka ke peringkat ijazah pertama di
universiti tempatan mahupun luar negara.

SYNOPSIS

Diploma in Mechatronic Engineering programme is designed to produce holistic graduates that have knowledge and competent skills in the field of mechatronic engineering to fulfil the demand of workers in engineering sector. Five components related to the programme have been identified. Components make up the BOK for Diploma in Mechatronic Engineering are namely Technical, Personal Development, Mathematics, Science and Workplace Competencies. Technical Components is Electronic system, Mechanical System, Computers and Control Systems.
